Raising Her Story

7 November 2025

Sharing Women’s Voices Through Art

We’re inviting women and girls across South East Wales to get creative and share their stories!

Raising Her Story is a community art project running from November 2025 to February 2026. Together, we’ll make colourful bunting pieces that tell real stories from local women and girls; stories of strength, hope, and everyday life.

Each bunting piece will become part of a big community display to celebrate International Women’s Day in March 2026.

What’s Happening

Over the next few months, we’ll be running free creative workshops led by local female artists. You can join in, learn new skills, and share your story through art, words, or video.

We’ll also give out free material packs so everyone can take part; even if you can’t make it to a workshop.

By the end, we’ll have hundreds of bunting pieces showing the voices and stories of women and girls from across South East Wales.

Sharing your story

We want Raising Her Story to celebrate everyday women and their experiences.

You might want to share a story about:

  • A woman who has inspired or supported you
  • Someone who has made a difference in your life
  • Your own experiences as a woman

You can share your story in any way that works for you; written, spoken, or recorded. This will then be added to the installation to go along with your bunting piece.

Everyone’s story matters big or small, quiet or bold. Your voice can inspire others and help create a powerful display of women’s creativity, strength, and connection across South East Wales.

We’re Looking for Local Artists and Groups

We’d love local artists, schools, and community groups to get involved.

  • Artists: Help lead a creative workshop or make your own bunting piece.
  • Groups or Schools: Get your members or students involved in making bunting together.
  • Community Members: Come along, have fun, and be part of something special!

Everyone is welcome — whether you’re creative, curious, or just want to connect with others.

The Big Celebration

All the bunting will come together in March 2026 for a big celebration on International Women’s Day.

The event will include:

– Performances from local women
– Speakers sharing inspiring stories
– A short film showing the journey
– And of course, the full community bunting display

It will be a joyful day to celebrate women, creativity, and community across South East Wales.
