In September, tenants at David’s Court Sheltered Scheme decided they were going to organise their own coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Tenants decided between them who would be running the coffee morning, and who would offer further support.

Amy, Sheltered Scheme Coordinator supported with ordering the fundraising pack and the tenants began planning.

Between them all they designed posters to go up around the local community and spoke with local businesses in the area, to receive donations for the raffle. They also signed up different people to volunteer to make cakes and donate items for the bric-a-brac table.

Tenants who were unable to make the coffee morning made donations or purchased raffle tickets, resulting in £200 raised prior to the event.

The coffee morning was held on the 27 September from 10am-12pm. By 11am they had run out of raffle tickets and had to use a second book!

Tenants sat and enjoyed some cake and a cuppa and were joined by members of the community, including the local PCSO’s.

The tenants were thrilled to see so many people from the community coming to show their support too, at one point they even ran out of mugs and chairs! Luckily additional chairs were brought into the lounge, so everyone could sit and enjoy a chat and catch up.

The morning was a huge success especially considering it was all organised in three weeks, resulting in £700.50 being raised.

A huge well done to the tenants of David’s Court.
