Plug-in solar panels in your home

From 27 August 2026, new rules mean some small plug-in solar panels can be sold and used in the UK. These panels plug into a standard socket and can generate electricity from sunlight.

Can I install plug in solar panels in my Trivallis home?

You must get our written permission before making any changes to your home. This includes installing solar panels or attaching anything to walls, roofs, balconies or railings.

At the moment, we do not give permission for our tenants to install plug in solar panels in their homes.

Why have we made this decision?

Our first priority is keeping you and your neighbours safe.

Before we can allow any new equipment to be installed, we need to carefully consider:

• Electrical safety
• Fire safety
• Building safety
• Insurance requirements
• Future repairs and maintenance
• The safety of shared and communal areas

Even if a product is legal to buy, it may not be suitable for use in a Trivallis home.
