Sewing the seed of inspiration this ASB Awareness Week

4 July 2025

This ASB Awareness Week, we’re doing things a little differently in Bryn Olwg by focusing on what brings people together rather than what causes problems.

Community Housing Officer Lisa shares what she’s been up to this ASB Awareness Week.

This ASB Awareness Week, we’re doing things a little differently in Bryn Olwg by focusing on what brings people together rather than what causes problems.

At a recent workshop, we talked about how the local environment plays a big part in creating safer and happier neighbourhoods. Bryn Olwg is a great example of this in action.

We’ve noticed how much pride tenants take in the communal gardens. Each space has been made welcoming and colourful in its own unique way. These gardens are more than just nice to look at. They’re a way for people to connect, show care, and feel part of something.

To celebrate this, we invited Terry from the local Men’s Shed to join the Community Housing Officer and the local PCSO for a walk around the gardens at Bryn Olwg. They chatted with tenants about how they could get involved with Men’s Shed, which is a friendly group that welcomes everyone and encourages people to share skills, make new friends and support one another.

Tenants were also invited to visit the nearby Men’s Shed workshop where they can learn new skills or build something for the garden.

This is just the start. We’re working with local groups to build on what tenants already enjoy, like their love for gardening and their pets. There are more projects lined up so there is still a lot more to come after this great start.

By focusing on the things that matter to people and working together, we’re helping to build a stronger, more positive community.

Together we’re growing more than just gardens. We’re growing connection, kindness and a happier place to live.
