Trivallis buys former care home in Perthcelyn

29 April 2025

Trivallis has purchased The Willows in Perthcelyn. The former nursing home, which had been empty for several years, has been bought by the housing association to help meet the demand for affordable housing in the local area.

Trivallis is a not-for-profit housing association based in Pontypridd. Owned by its tenants and regulated by Welsh Government, it already has more than 10,000 properties in RCT providing homes to more than 25,000 local people. With long waiting lists for affordable housing in the area and record numbers of people living in temporary accommodation, Trivallis is committed to bringing empty properties back into use.

The Willows was put up for sale some time ago. When the initial sale fell through, Trivallis stepped in to bring the building back into local ownership.

Trivallis has no fixed plans for the building yet. Now that it’s been secured, Trivallis will consult with local people and community groups to explore the best use for it.

Louise Attwood, Executive Director of Development at Trivallis confirmed: “The Willows is a real asset in the community of Perthcelyn and we understand the depth of feeling that the recent sale process sparked. We were keen to buy it, not only to help meet the demand for secure and affordable homes, but to make sure local people can help shape the future of the building. We’re looking forward to hearing from residents and working together with the community in an open and transparent way to plan the next chapter for The Willows.”
