On Friday 28 February, the community of Glyncoch came together with Trivallis to hold a Great Estate Day.

The community planned the day, organising what they wanted to see happen and got stuck in with putting their plans into action.

The day was a great success, that saw everyone roll up their sleeves to brighten up community spaces and share ideas about future activities that could help make Glyncoch and even greater place to live.

Trivallis’ Estates Team cut back overgrown areas, removed waste and cleaned up the area. Local residents, including families and children from the local school, got involved too by litter picking and learning more about their local environment.

While everyone was hard at work, the local volunteers at Glyncoch Community Centre were busy preparing refreshments and food ready for when everyone took a well-earned break. The Community Centre was a great hub for the day, where everyone could connect with neighbours, support teams and get to know each other.

The day was also full of fun, with fun activities to take part in and it was great to see the children of Glyncoch, dancing and playing together, as well as challenging RCT Council Enforcement and Awareness Teams in a game of football.

Trivallis’ community team’s door knocked and took the opportunity to engage the local residents to get to know them and find out what they love most about living in Glyncoch. The conversations revealed what really mattered most to tenants, and what they felt strongly about to make a difference to their community.

It was great to see people of all ages come together to care for their community. It was a day that showed just how much can be achieved when everyone works together.

This is just the beginning of the difference that is being made in Glyncoch. There will be more opportunities for the Glyncoch community to get together and continue making their neighbourhood a wonderful place to live.
