Farewell Emma

11 December 2024

After an incredibly successful four years as Chair of the Tenant Action Panel (TAP), we are saying a heartfelt thank you and farewell to Emma Nicholas, who will step down from her role at the end of this year.

After an incredibly successful four years as Chair of the Tenant Action Panel (TAP), we are saying a heartfelt thank you and farewell to Emma Nicholas, who will step down from her role at the end of this year. Her leadership and passion for improving tenant involvement have had a lasting impact, and she leaves a strong legacy for the future.

Throughout her time as Chair, Emma has played a vital role in transforming how tenants contribute to shaping services. She has helped create robust structures and processes to ensure tenant voices are not only heard but acted upon. These improvements have allowed us to monitor tenant input more effectively and make meaningful changes that truly reflect their needs and priorities.

Emma’s dedication to her role and to tenants has been extraordinary. She has been a relentless advocate for tenant involvement, ensuring they are front and centre in decision-making. Under her leadership, TAP has gone from strength to strength, with involved tenants given more opportunities than ever before to influence the services that matter most to them.

Reflecting on her time as Chair, Emma shared:
“Being an involved tenant during such a challenging time has been really important. I became Chair just as COVID started, and I made sure tenants were always put first during those tough times. Since 2023, I’ve worked closely with the new Board and Leadership Team to help drive positive changes. I’m proud that I’ve been able to speak up for tenants and make sure their voices are heard whenever big decisions are made.”

Her words capture the spirit of her leadership. Stepping into the role during the uncertainties of the pandemic, she ensured tenants remained a priority through difficult times. Her work with the new Board and Leadership Team since 2023 has been pivotal in driving forward the many positive changes we’ve seen in recent years.

Our Chief Executive, Duncan Forbes, expressed his gratitude, saying:
“I’d like to thank Emma for her incredible dedication and leadership during the last few years. Her commitment to championing tenants and ensuring their voices are heard has been invaluable in shaping the positive changes we’ve achieved together. We’re grateful for everything she’s done to put tenants at the heart of Trivallis.”

Although Emma is stepping down as Chair, her commitment to tenants isn’t ending. She will be moving on to an exciting new role as the Tenant Voice Lead at the Foundational Alliance, an initiative that we proudly support. In this position, she will help establish a national, independent voice for tenants, representing their interests at the Government level.

While her new role will bring fresh challenges, Emma will still remain an involved tenant with us. She plans to continue taking part in surveys, providing informal feedback, and helping recruit new involved tenants. However, she will enjoy a slightly lighter schedule without as many meetings to attend!

Looking ahead, the search for a new Chair and Vice-Chair of the Tenant Action Panel will begin in December. It’s an exciting time for TAP as we prepare to enter a new chapter, building on the foundations Emma has laid.

We are so grateful for everything Emma has done during her time as Chair. Her work has improved the way tenants engage with us and ensured their voices remain central to everything we do. While we will miss her as Chair, we are excited to see the huge impact she will make in her new role and are delighted she will continue to be part of our tenant community.

Emma, thank you for your passion, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to tenants. You leave a legacy that will continue to inspire us in the future.
