Cae Fardre Crimestoppers Zone launched to encourage communities to give crime information anonymously.

The charity Crimestoppers and Trivallis today launched the Crimestoppers Zone, to empower communities to play a role in keeping their neighbourhood safe. This follows a series of measure taken by Trivallis and other local partners to help build a safer and happier environment for people living in the area.

Residents in the new Crimestoppers Zone, which covers the Cae Fardre area of Pontypridd, will be encouraged to speak up about criminal activity via the charity’s unique reporting service, which enables people to pass on information 100% anonymously.

The charity guarantees 100% anonymity when taking crime information, which can be done in over 140 different languages. For those who call the charity, if required, a translator can be on the other end of the line within a couple of minutes.

The aim of the Crimestoppers Zone initiative is not only to reduce crime, but to encourage communities to speak up safely and anonymously about what they know, to take a stand against crime and anti-social behaviour, without the fear of reprisals from criminals.

Lianne Bulford, Neighbourhood Services Manager at Trivallis, said: “We know that some people feel unsure about reporting crime or don’t know where to turn. With Crimestoppers, they now have an easy, safe way to speak up.

“The introduction of the community hub and the structural changes we’ve made to the lay out of the estate have already made a big difference, this next step will allow us to work even closer with the community to stop would be perpetrators in their tracks and improve safety on the estate.”

Hayley Fry, National Manager for Wales at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “We’re thrilled to launch this initiative in partnership with Trivallis. The concept is simple, if you see something that concerns you, you now have a safe and anonymous way to speak up. With the Crimestoppers Zone, residents can pass on information about criminal activity without fear of reprisal. Your voice matters, and together, we can make a real difference in creating a safer, more secure Cae Fardre.

“Some people have information about crime but feel they don’t have anywhere or anyone to turn to. Please remember that the charity Crimestoppers and our Fearless service for young people are here to help. We do not judge or take any personal details from those who contact us. All we want is the information you have. You will remain 100% anonymous. Always.”

You can contact the charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 at any time or by completing a secure online form at Crimestoppers-uk.org or Fearless.org for young people, where more can also be learnt about keeping themselves and their peers safe.

With Crimestoppers-uk.org and Fearless.org, computer IP addresses are never traced, and no-one will ever know you contacted them. For telephone calls to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111, there is no caller line display, no 1471 facility and calls have never been traced.

The Crimestoppers initiative in Cae Fardre is part of a bigger plan to boost community engagement, improve services, and work closely with other local partners and volunteers from the community. It’s also backed by local leaders like Councillor Graham Stacey, who has been pushing for more support for the area.

Councillor Stacey commented: “It’s fantastic to see a range of initiatives being introduced to make our community safer and happier. People are already noticing the difference and feeling the benefits.”
