Quick action helps stop fly tipping in Fernhill

20 February 2026

Thanks to the fast work of our Cynon Estates and Community Housing team, a recent fly tipping issue in Fernhill has now been sorted.

The team first spotted a large pile of dumped rubbish on the estate during a routine visit and arranged for it to be cleared straight away. Unfortunately, only a few days later, a second pile appeared in the same spot.

Determined to get to the bottom of the problem, the team contacted the Community Housing Office Jess Olsen who acted quickly to find out where the waste had come from.

Once they were able to identify the source of the fly‑tipping, the team worked with the Council who issued a fixed‑penalty fine to the person responsible. The fine has now been paid.

This swift response means action has been taken before the problem had a chance to grow, and it sends a clear message that fly‑tipping won’t be tolerated.

Keeping our estates clean and safe is a shared responsibility, and the hard work of the team has helped protect the area for everyone living there. We hope this will prevent any further incidents and ensure Fernhill remains a tidy, welcoming place for residents.

If you spot fly‑tipping in your area, please report it as soon as possible so we can respond quickly.
