Safe and welcoming communities

Keeping our communities safe – looking out for each other

We all want to feel safe in our community, and the best way to do that is by looking out for one another. Whether you’re out and about or chatting online, small actions can make a big difference in keeping our communities a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Simple ways to stay safe

  • Be aware of your surroundings – Trust your instincts and stick to well-lit areas where possible.
  • Report anything that doesn’t feel right – If something seems off, let South Wales Police know by calling 101 or reporting online. If it’s an emergency, always call 999. If you call 999 but can’t speak out loud, press 55 to transfer your call to the police who will usually be able to track your location.
  • Support each other – If someone shares a concern with you, listen and encourage them to report it if needed.
  • Think before sharing online – Not everything we see on social media is accurate. If you’re unsure, check reliable sources before passing things on.

Using tech to stay safe

  • Use What Three Words to easily share your locations when needed.
  • The Hollieguard app turns your phone into a personal safety device with a number of free or paid for features including the ability to shake your phone to alert the police.

Need a bit of support?

If you’re feeling uneasy or just want some advice, there are people who can help:

  • Victim Support offers confidential help if you need someone to talk to. Call 0808 168 9111 or visit the Victim Support website.
  • Find out information about local police support and crime statistic area on the South Wales Police website
  • Community Housing Officers are here to chat about any safety concerns. Drop them an email at customerservices@trivallis.co.uk or call 03000 030 888.

Let’s keep it fair and helpful

Sharing concerns is important, but it’s just as important to keep things accurate and fair. Reporting the right details in the right way helps the police take action and makes sure everyone is treated with respect.

Stronger Together

Our communities are a great place to live because we support each other. By staying informed, looking out for our neighbours, and making good choices about how we share and report information, we can all help keep our community safe and welcoming.

If you’ve got any concerns or just want some advice, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re all in this together.
