Cups of joy: Scavenger Hunt

To mark Brew Monday, we have launched a scavenger hunt across our communities in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Cardiff Bay.

To mark Brew Monday, we have launched a scavenger hunt across our communities in Rhondda Cynon Taf and Cardiff Bay.

There are 108 cups of joy to find, all brightly coloured with a mood booster written on them and they could be hidden around your community.

If you find one of our cups of joy, take a photo of you with your cup and the location where you found it. You can share it with us on Facebook or Instagram, or email comms@trivallis.co.uk and we will share it.

Here are the 50 different small moments of joy activities that you might find written on a cup that’s hidden somewhere near you:

1–10: Mindfulness and Breathing

  1. Take three deep breaths, inhaling for four counts and exhaling for six.
  2. Close your eyes and visualise your happy place for 30 seconds.
  3. Perform a quick body scan to relax tense muscles.
  4. Practice gratitude: think of three things you’re grateful for.
  5. Smile, even if you don’t feel like it (it can trick your brain into feeling happier).
  6. Try a quick 1-minute mindfulness meditation.
  7. Repeat a positive affirmation like “I am enough” or “This moment will pass.”
  8. Listen closely to the ambient sounds around you.
  9. Focus on the sensation of your feet on the ground to feel grounded.
  10. Count five things you can see, four you can touch, three you can hear, two you can smell, and one you can taste.

11–20: Mental Refreshers

  1. Daydream about an exciting goal or dream.
  2. Plan a pretend holiday in your mind.
  3. Recall a funny memory or inside joke.
  4. List five things you love about yourself.
  5. Think of your favourite movie scene and replay it in your head.
  6. Imagine the best compliment you could receive and savour how it feels.
  7. Picture yourself succeeding at a challenge you’re facing.
  8. Write a mental thank-you note to someone who has helped you.
  9. Replay your favourite song in your head and imagine dancing to it.
  10. Imagine what your pet (or a favourite animal) might say to cheer you up.

21–30: Self-Connection

  1. Give yourself a mental high-five for something you’ve accomplished.
  2. Reflect on one thing you’ve learned recently.
  3. Recall a time you overcame a difficult situation.
  4. Plan a mental itinerary for your perfect day.
  5. Think about a quality you admire in yourself.
  6. Remind yourself of a recent compliment someone gave you.
  7. Remember a time you made someone laugh or smile.
  8. Choose a word that describes how you want to feel today.
  9. Mentally list your strengths and talents.
  10. Reflect on how far you’ve come in the last year.

31–40: Quick Actions

  1. Stretch your arms and take a deep breath.
  2. Roll your shoulders a few times to release tension.
  3. Wiggle your fingers and toes for a few seconds.
  4. Yawn, even if you’re not tired, to relax.
  5. Do a quick posture check: sit up straight and align your spine.
  6. Snap your fingers or clap to reset your focus.
  7. Close your eyes and tilt your face toward an imagined sun.
  8. Nod your head as if agreeing with yourself.
  9. Blink slowly a few times to rest your eyes.
  10. Hug yourself and squeeze gently for comfort.

41–50: Connection and Positivity

  1. Mentally send good vibes to someone you care about.
  2. Think of someone you admire and why.
  3. Reflect on a moment when someone showed kindness to you.
  4. Imagine a loved one cheering you on.
  5. Picture someone you care about smiling at you.
  6. Mentally compose a thank-you to someone who inspires you.
  7. Recall a time when you made someone proud.
  8. Imagine holding hands with someone you trust.
  9. Think about a meaningful compliment you’d like to give someone.
  10. Picture the ripple effect of your kindness in the world.

These activities are simple and can be done anywhere, anytime, to give your mood a quick lift.
