Rent setting policy changes: Learn more and share your views

7 November 2024

We would like to welcome you to an informal drop-in session where we’ll explain the changes to our rent policy and how we set rent.

We want to keep rent affordable while improving our homes and supporting our communities.

A lot has changed since we last updated our policy and we would like to share with you our thinking behind a new process that will help us set our rents each year. The purpose of this change is so that we can better support our tenants and communities. It’s important to find the right balance between having money to invest in homes whilst keeping things affordable, and your feedback will help us do that.

We would like to welcome you to an informal drop-in session where we’ll explain the changes to our rent policy and how we set rent.

What to Expect:

At each session, there will be a short presentation to explain the proposed new rent setting process. After that, you’ll have the chance to ask questions, share your thoughts, and tell us what you think. These sessions are a great way to hear all the details about our plans and share your thoughts about them.

Key points about the rent policy:

  • We have updated our rent policy for new and transferring tenants. This will mean that we can still deliver a living rent while being able to adjust to the specific needs of our communities.
  • We are committed to keeping rents affordable at 23% of lower-income earnings, which is below the recommended 28%.
  • You’ll also find out how we use rent money to improve homes and support community projects. We’d love to hear what you think our priorities should be.

Session Details:

Join us for coffee, cake, and a chat at one of these sessions:

  • 14 November, 6:00 PM – 4 Manor Court, Cae Fardre

What’s Next:

These sessions will focus on explaining how we set rent, but in late November, we’ll come back to ask you how you’d like us to spend rent money. Your opinions will help us plan and make better choices for our community.

We hope to see you there and hear what you think. Let’s work together to keep rents affordable and improve our communities.
