My Trivallis

What are community benefits?

Community benefits are the positive social, economic, and environmental contributions that our contractors make to local communities above and beyond their main work with Trivallis. This support is designed to help grassroots organisations in Trivallis areas.

Community benefit schemes come in two forms.

  1. Regular contracts: Contractors who provide our day-to-day services offer community benefits based on the value of their contract. These can be spent anywhere, and grassroots groups can apply for funding or other forms of support through our online form.
  2. New housing developments: Contractors building our new estates provide community benefits worth 0.25% of the contract value. This money must be spent in the local area, with residents helping to decide how it’s used. Keep your eye on our social media channels for updates on developments in your area.

Examples of support from regular contracts:

  • Donations of materials, equipment, staff and resources to help with small projects or events
  • Support with education, careers and skills development (e.g., digital skills, employment support, mock interviews)
  • Environmental improvements, such as planting or litter picking
  • Training, mentoring or capacity building for community organisations

Please note!

We only support a small number of big refurbishment or high-cost construction projects, as they are more complex. They need careful planning and co-ordination, and we must make sure all contractors are working safely, efficiently and in a way that fits with the wider project. You’re very welcome to apply for this kind of support, but please be aware we only take on two or three of these projects each year.

Why we have an application process

Demand for community benefits has increased a lot, and we want to make sure support is offered fairly and consistently.

Having a formal application process helps us to:

  • Ensure fairness and transparency
  • Understand the needs of each group
  • Match requests with the right contractor support
  • Manage demand and avoid informal or unofficial applications

Applying for support from regular contracts

1. Step 1: Complete the online form

Tell us about your group, the support you need, and when you need it.

2. Step 2: Review and assessment

Your application will be reviewed by our Community Benefits Panel which includes tenants and staff. We may contact you if we need more information.

3. Step 3: Matching your request

If your request is suitable, we will match it with a Trivallis contractor who has the skills and capacity to help.

4. Step 4: Next steps

We will let you know the outcome and, if approved, agree a plan with you and the contractor.

How decisions are made

When reviewing applications, we may consider:

  • Benefits to the local community
  • The balance between costs and the number of beneficiaries
  • Whether the request is achievable within available resources

Our panel meets 3-4 times per year to decide what projects to support. If you need a decision quickly, please contact us to check when the panel meets next.

Our aim is always to distribute support fairly and to reach as many groups as possible.

Who can apply?

Grass roots organisations operating in Trivallis areas. If you’re unsure whether your group is eligible, you’re still welcome to apply. We’ll help guide you.
