Get Ready and Move On (GRAMO) is designed to give people the best start with their tenancy. For people who are living independently for the first time or are being rehomed after a period of homelessness; adjusting to a new way of life can be a challenge.

GRAMO is a pre-tenancy information project delivered through six bitesize sessions that cover necessary steps to moving on and accessing the support available. The sessions cover using Homefinder to find properties available to you, antisocial behaviour and landlord disputes, understanding your tenancy, money management, bills and budgeting and benefits and grants available.

Bitesize Sessions

Module 1 – Necessary steps to move on and what support is available

  • Focus: Planning next steps and identifying available support
  • Activities:
    • Complete a checklist and a personal support plan
    • Group discussions and activities
    • Understand what happens during housing sign-up
  • Goal: Know the steps to move on and who can help

Module 2 – Homefinder and Properties available

  • Focus: Finding suitable housing through Homefinder and other sources
  • Activities:
    • Explore websites like Homefinder and private rental listings
    • Discuss current support and different housing options
    • View a sample property
  • Goal: Learn how to search for housing and understand available support

Module 3 – ASB & Landlord Disputes

  • Focus: What counts as ASB, its impact, and how to handle landlord issues
  • Activities:
    • Case studies, role play
    • Understand consequences and available help
  • Goal: Recognise ASB, know your responsibilities, and find support

Module 4 – Understand a Tenancy Agreement

  • Focus: Learn about tenancy agreements and your rights/responsibilities
  • Activities:
    • Review real agreements and case studies
    • Discuss upcoming legal changes (Renting Homes Wales)
  • Goal: Know what’s in a tenancy agreement and what it means for you

Module 5 – Money Management & Budgeting

  • Focus: How to manage bills and budget for tenancy
  • Activities:
    • Fill out a financial plan
    • Learn budgeting tips
    • Identify financial support services
  • Goal: Handle money effectively and plan for regular expenses

Module 6 – Benefits & Grants available

  • Focus: Understanding benefits and grants to support your tenancy
  • Activities:
    • Learn about Universal Credit, housing costs, and how to apply
    • Discover services and websites offering financial help
  • Goal: Know what financial help is available and how to access it
